IMC-USA commemorates the 15th anniversary of Babri Masjid’s demolition

Indian Muslim Council - USA (http://www.imc-usa.org), an advocacy group dedicated towards safeguarding India's pluralist and tolerant ethos, marks the 15th anniversary of Babri Masjid's destruction with sadness.
In a press release issued by the US based group, it reminded the Indian Government the promise that previous Congress Prime Minister Mr. P. V. Narsimha Rao made to the nation soon after the destruction of the Babri Masjid. In a nationally televised speech Mr. Rao promised to rebuild the Babri Masjid.
Drawing attention to the fact that no substantial action has been taken even after 15 years, Mr. Rasheed Ahmed, President of the IMC-USA said, "It is a tragedy in itself that no one has been punished for one of the greatest crimes of post-Independence India."
IMC-USA condemns the violence in Nandigram; Urges Central Government to take action
Indian Muslim Council – USA (http://www.imc-usa.org), an advocacy group dedicated towards safeguarding India ’s pluralist and tolerant ethos, deplores the violence carried out by Communist Party of India (Marxist) members in Nandigram, West Bengal. IMC-USA urges the Indian central government to dedicate more resources in bringing the perpetrators to justice and adequately protect the victims of this state sponsored atrocity.
The prolonged violence is being carried out by CPI(M) party cadres against innocent villagers protesting the government acquisition of farmland for industrialization in Nandigram village located in the Indian state of West Bengal. They have wreaked havoc on some of the poorest people in the region with allegations of rape, murder and destruction of property. A complete account of casualties and losses is not available yet but the violence continues unabated. The November violence is a continuation of attacks that have occurred earlier this year.
IMC-USA denounces the UP blasts; appeals for peace and calm

Indian Muslim Council - USA (http://www.imc-usa.org) , an advocacy group dedicated towards safeguarding India’s pluralist and tolerant ethos has condemned the bomb blasts in Uttar Pradesh. IMC-USA has appealed for peace and urged all Indians to practice restraint and not let the bomb blasts be used to divide the communities.
Six bomb blasts have killed 15 people and injured over 80 in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh (UP). The near simultaneous blasts occurred in the cities of Varanasi, Faizabad and the state capital, Lucknow.
Rasheed Ahmed, the President of IMC-USA, has denounced these attacks calling them an attempt to terrorize and influence the judiciary and legal system of India. He also stated, "Extremism and terrorism must not be allowed to affect the Indian Justice system. An open and speedy investigation into these acts will go far in discouraging their repetition."
Modi not invited to WEF’s meeting in Davos: Claims of invitation by Modi Government were false propaganda

Indian Muslim Council – USA is pleased to announce that WEF has confirmed that it has not invited Narendra Modi. The World Economic Forum (WEF) issued their statement in response to the letters sent to the WEF board that brought their attention to the human rights violations committed by the Narendra Modi Government in the state of Gujarat in India.
Various news sources had reported the claim by the Government of Gujarat that WEF had invited Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister of the state of Gujarat in India, to speak at Davos, Switzerland in January 2008. This news prompted Dr Omar Khalidi of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to initiate an independent campaign urging the WEF Chairman Prof. Klaus Schwab and Board to rescind its invitation to Mr. Modi.
